MANILA, Philippines - Korean singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong has finished promoting his first solo album in Korea and will now start his Asia tour.
Hyun Joong has been successful in shifting from being the leader of boy band SS501 into a solo artist. His album “Break Down” has sold more than 100,000 copies in Korea alone.
“It’s as if it was only yesterday when I started preparing for domestic activities for my album but I can’t believe I’m now finished with it,” said Hyun Joong, whose last performance on TV was on July 24 on SBS “Inkigayo” program.
It’s also worthy to note that Ken Lewis, who has also worked as producer for Kanye West and Eminem, produced the album’s title track, “Break Down.”
On July 28, Hyun Joong will be flying to Japan for his album showcase that will be held on July 29 at the Tokyo International Forum. He is scheduled to meet about 1,500 fans and Japanese media.
Despite his busy schedule, Hyun Joong’s personal life has flourished. He was a guest on an SBS radio program last July 22 and during the interview, Hyun Joong admitted having a girlfriend of five months.
After his Japan showcase, Hyun Joong is scheduled to promote his album in Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia in August.
In the Philippines, Hyun Joong will hold his “High Five” promo tour on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. at the TriNoma Activity Center in Quezon City.
His Filipino fans are excited to see him again as this is the second time that Hyun Joong will visit the Philippines.
He was here in June last year when he performed at the “K-pop Meets P-Pop” concert at Araneta Coliseum together with boy band BEAST.
Hyun Joong shot to fame when he was cast as one of the lead stars of the hit Korean drama “Boys over Flowers” in 2009. Last year, he starred in the drama “Playful Kiss.”
