Kim Hyun Joong attempts to eat a hot chili pepper from Okinawa

Singer Kim Hyun Joong, who recently released his debut album in Japan, guest-featured on a Japanese television program to show off his entertainment skills.

According to Oricon, the leading Japanese music authority, the singer was able to experience a bit of Okinawa — a city he’s always wanted to visit. Through Fuji TV‘s ‘Sakigake! Music Ranking Eight‘, Kim Hyun Joong finally received a chance to indirectly experience the culture of Okinawa.

The program gave him the opportunity to taste different foods unique to Okinawa, including one of Okinawa’s indigenous hot chili peppers. Fans grew curious to see how well he would handle the heat, as the singer enjoys spicy food in his everyday life.

A representative from the program remarked, “We launched this program in order to see side of celebrities that are hard to see on other programs.”

Whether or not Kim Hyun Joong was able to successfully stomach the chili will be revealed in the February 8th episode of ‘Sakigake! Music Ranking Eight’.

1) HyunJoong said that after his solo debut, 'I'm Your Man' is his first slow-tempo (ballad) song, a song to confess love, or a wishing song, he knows that some of the fans are getting married soon,  although he cannot present himself on their weddings, he hoped that this song will be able to cherish the wedding couples. Then, a listener called in and she said for the bridegroom's sake, it's better if HyunJoong doesn't attend their wedding.

2) His Asia Tour concert will probably be kicking off next year, around end of January or early February. His Japan Nationwide Tour will be starting this November and he is currently preparing for it. So JYH asked that it would be hard to see him on variety shows then HyunJoong said that's there's really nothing much left to say if he attended too many shows...JYH said even if he just sit and smile during the show it would suffice already...but HyunJoong said it's tiresome if he sit there for 10 hours straight in a row. (did he mean Strong Heart recording last time? The recording this time took 6hours)

3) JYH asked how's HyunJoong lately and he said he's fine although he's been practising his dance choreography til' late night.

4) A listener called in and said she saw HyunJoong and his dancers, Artmatic at a soup restaurant yesterday (as in 16th of October), she wanted to ask him for an autograph but she's afraid she might disturbed them so she didn't approach. HyunJoong said he indeed have went to the soup restaurant yesterday. The listener sent in her address through text message, and so, HyunJoong sent his autograph to the address. (envy envy!!)

5) Although he went to the spicy soup restaurant, he didn't had any spicy soup, instead he had 백숙 (baeksuk, you can google it for more info) and a dish of eel.  (good choice, you can't have any since you have a poor tummy, ask JJ for the pills before you eat anything spicy *winks*)

6) And maybe because other listeners have heard this, many messages went gushing in and one of them said 'On 2008 during the winter, she have met HyunJoong and his friends in a restaurant too having soju, claiming she was HyunJoong's schoolmates. HyunJoong asked for her name very seriously (very seriously -.-)  and guessed she's one of his classmates in high school. (JYH said that it could be a fraud..HyunJoong then said 'Ah....' ... 바보야 우주신님~ ㅋㅋ)

7) Compared to Break Down, HyunJoong wants to perform something more soothing and relaxing before the winter. And he is very grateful to Hong Suhyun for featuring in his music video despite her busy schedules.

8) He prefer matured women, like After School ( UEE o.o?), and he played football with Lee Seunggi yesterday (don't tell me SeungGi is attracted to HJ because of HJ's 30 pairs of capri pants LMAO!)

Kim Hyun Joong is friends with JYJ, ‘Different Agencies But The Same Heart?’

Singer Kim Hyun Joong showed off his friendship with JYJ, who recently presented an interesting average appearance.

On the 10th of October, Kim Hyun Joong held a round of interviews a day before the release of his second mini album ‘Lucky’ in order to talk about his future activities.

Regarding the article that stated that Kim Hyun Joong proposed to JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong over some alcohol to perform a duet together, the singer stated, “It is true that I said that to him,” and “I don’t think we live in a generation where we can’t release an album together just because we’re in different agencies. I want to do things that I won’t regret.”

When asked, “What aspect about Kim Jaejoong appealed to you?”, Kim Hyun Joong said, “It’s not that he appealed to me in any way. I just think it would be fun to work together.” Though he seems indifferent, he sent his friend a text of praise that read, ‘You’re a great actor’ during the airing of Kim Jaejoong’s drama ‘Protect the Boss’.

Kim Hyun Joong also said, “I really like playing soccer with Junsu or travelling around the Gyeonggi-do region,” and recommended Misari as a travel location. He explained that though it doesn’t have much grandeur, it’s the best place to go and share a drink with friends.

Choosing Gummy and Kim Jaejoong as ‘friends who drink well’, Kim Hyun Joong made everyone laugh when he said, “Honestly, I’d like my girlfriend to be able to drink a lot of alcohol. It wouldn’t be fun if she got drunk after a single glass,” and “But if she’s pretty and nice, it doesn’t matter.”

Kim Hyun Joong will have his comeback stage on the 20th of October through Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’.

Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong (age 25) attended the commemorative event of AEON Korean Fair at Saitama Koshigaya on  15th (event till 16th)

He carried out a talk on Korea culture in the cheer of 4000 people. The recommended places of interest in Seoul by Kim Hyun Joong is "Heard that when Japanese tourists come to Seoul, will visit Namsan Tower and Myeongdong. There's also other great places besides these. For example the Koream ancient imperial palace Gyeongbokgung. Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong (age 25) attended the commemorative event of AEON Korean Fair at Saitama Koshigaya Lake Town on the 15th.

Kim Hyun Joong appeared on stage with the cheer from about 4000 people, participated ina  talk on introducing Korea tourism and culture. "I love to eat ttokbokki and sundae from the roadside stalls. And also pancake that's selling on the roadside stalls in Japan. But it's such a pity that there isn't selling (my favorite) Gyudon" and broguht about much laughters at the scene.

Will be holding a nation-wide concert tour in 7 cities, he said "I heard that all tickets were sold out, I'm really very thankful to everyone. I didn't expect everyone to support me this much. I'm working hard in the preparations, please anticipate." He'll also be releasing his 2nd mini album 'LUCKY' on 2 November.

Kim Hyun Joong to release more music in December and January

After focusing on his acting career, SS501‘s Kim Hyun Joong is more than ready to turn the focus back to singing. He’s been in high-drive lately, releasing back to back albums in the same year and delving into styles and concepts that most singers go through in double the time.

Why the rush? Kim Hyun Joong took the time to explain why, as well as some news on future releases through his interview with Segye Ilbo.

The singer stated, “First of all, I’m planning to release a ballad in December through a digital single with a unique music video to go with it. In January, I’m going to release another mini-album. Considering my schedule, I don’t have room to space them out. I’m also going on a tour next year to meet up with more of my fans so I’m trying to have some good songs under my belt before then. As for an official studio album, I think I prefer a mini-album with five or so songs.”

His recent “Lucky Guy” comeback was inspired by the movie ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘.  He stated, “You can consider the album mainstream, but also modern. My concept is freedom. I remember seeing the movie Ocean’s Eleven and just thinking to myself, ‘That’s it.’ I set the physical concept first and then began to collect songs.”

He continued, “As for ‘Lucky Guy‘, it sounds like a song that would be performed with a band on stage, but I actually have a fun choreography to go with it. It’s a song that I made out of hope of creating something that’s considered band music, but also something that you can dance to. I made sure my outfits were also colorful to give that ‘dandy guy’ look.”

He’s already sold 110,000 album units so far, but that shouldn’t be a surprise considering he’s Kim Hyun joong.

“There’s a limit as to how far you can go as a dance singer. When I’m older, I’m sure I’ll be pursuing different genres, so when I have some time to myself, I want to sit down and try music that I’ve always wanted to pursue since I was younger. I actually love band music and play the bass myself. Still, I want to learn more instruments and create something all my own. At the beginning of SS501′s debut, I liked the thought of being a celebrity, but I think that’s inevitable as a young teen. Either way, I think it’s important to not be content with where you are now and to always work towards improving yourself.”

On the topic of dating, he said, “All of the girls I meet are strictly for business purposes so I don’t have anyone I’m dating. If I do have one, I guess pictures would be taken of us.”

Kim Hyun Joong will be making his comeback on Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘ on October 20th.

Kim Hyun Joong comeback too soon?

 Following the launch of his first solo mini-album album “Break Down” four months ago, Kim Hyun Joong returns this week with another mini-album “Lucky“. Although many people felt that his return is too soon, Kim Hyun Joong thinks that it has been long overdue. “Many people are saying how quickly that I’m coming out again, but I personally think that a long time has passed. There will be another single album in January.”

“The debut solo album was able to reflect the solo side of myself and this time I’m presenting my music to everyone. I have put in a lot of effort in the music, it suits everyone. I had wanted to show that I can perform on stage alone through “Break Down”, in my new songs, I hope everyone can pay more attention to my music.”

In the new album, Kim Hyun Joong participated widely in album production and worked closely with C-Luv who has produced “Rainism” for Rain and MBLAQ‘s debut album, along with Steven Lee who has been working on not only Kim Hyun Joong’s debut album but also fellow SS501 members, Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong‘s debut albums as well. The album has attracted much attention due to the wide selection of musical styles, ranging from punk rock to American R&B through the five songs.

Kim Hyun Joong will be showing his maturing singing skills in “I Am Your Man“. He was also honest to add, “frankly, people do not harbor much curiosity in my music, that’s why I want to show more, wanting to sing songs that are appealing to everyone. I know people’s expectations are not so high, so I have selected music that are relatively simple.”

“The acoustic version of “I Am Your Man” gives a calm feeling, I have been receiving vocal training so there will be many changes, including my way of singing. Female fans may like the sound, my voice has indeed improved progressively.”

Title track “Lucky Guy” embodies rock band music that speaks of Kim Hyun Joong’s style, a genre that he loves. “In fact, I am very worried that the public could not accept such a song, and we had also invited a band and guitarist for live accompaniment. Although it is band music, I hope that we could present a song that we can dance to even without the presence of a band. The most exciting is club music, but since it no longer exists, I feel that band music would add more flavor.”

The title track “Lucky Guy” is Kim Hyun Joong’s favorite, recording for the song has also been very interesting. “In a part of the song, there is a howl, I have wanted to put a female’s voice initially, but it’s really hard to find that kind of sexy voice, so I used a wolf’s howl instead.”

Kim Hyun Joong said, the launch of this album complies with all of his requirements. It is not difficult to tell that he has put in a lot of effort from the pictures of the album cover. “I hope to be recognized in the things I want to do, not because of somebody’s demands.” 

The album promotions will only last for three weeks due to various promotional engagements in Asia. Kim Hyun Joong too expressed regret, “three weeks is really short, unfortunately, but there are scheduled activities and to release the new album during this time although somewhat regretful, I will do my best. I hope to meet a lot of fans.”

“Actually I did not anticipate that the response for my comeback being too soon, that’s why sometimes I think I’m being impatient. Although the time was very short but I’d dedicated all efforts in completing the album, wanting to return sooner so that everyone will not forget about me. Next year, I should have something new to bring to you and I hope to have your continued support.” 

“Lucky” has officially hit the record stores on October 11 and fans may look forward to the full music video on October 13. Kim Hyun Joong’s comeback stage is set for October 20 through Mnet‘s “M! Countdown“.
